"I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver"—Maya Angelou

Inspired by the field of education, I pursued and completed a master's degree from Humboldt State University, which ultimately led to my earning State and National Certifications as a School Psychologist. It has been my absolute privilege to serve as a public school educator, supporting students across Humboldt County for the past twenty-five years. Formerly, I was an elementary and high school counselor, school psychologist, Associate Principal, Principal, and now, as Coordinator of Humboldt County's Decade of Difference, my primary goal is to improve the quality of our local workforce and economy through the development of collaborative and meaningful relationships between K-12 education, higher education, business, and the community.

My relationship with HSU began as a student but has become so much more over time. I have had the pleasure of serving on former HSU President Rollin Richmond's President's Advisory Team, served on the most recent Presidential search committee, serve on President Rossbacher's President's Advisory Team, assist the School of Professional Studies with its WASC Accreditation process, and teach part time in the Educational Leadership credential program. There is much to be proud of at HSU and much that could use our collective support. Helping to promote HSU, and in turn, helping provide students with access to invaluable resources does liberate my soul as Ms. Angelou so nicely articulated.

I am a perpetual "lover of learning" and am currently attending the University of Nebraska in the pursuit of a doctorate in Educational Leadership. Being as connected as I am to HSU serves as a reminder of the impact a college education can have on an individual, on a community, and ultimately in the world. Go Lumberjacks!
